As we age, we lose collagen, a key architectural protein that supports the structure of the skin as well as the functions of elastin and hyaluronic acid (HA). Fortunately, collagen can be restored through a number of different methods. At Elite Aesthetics, we have seen remarkable results with Sculptra.
A member of the derma-filler family, Sculptra is an extremely popular and effective option for a global lifting and tightening of the skin. It is an FDA-approved injectable used to stimulate collagen production and reduce the appearance of smile lines, chin wrinkles, and marionette lines. Composed of poly-L-lactic acid, Sculptra gradually absorbs into the body, allowing for results that are subtle and natural (as opposed to “done” or “overdone”).
While this is something we address on an individual basis as treatment plans may vary, we typically advise patients receive three injections (one to two vials) over the course of three to four months.
Dr. Lieman will review and address factors including your health and medical history, goals, and expectations to help you determine if Sculptra is the right fit for you.
Poly-L-lactic Acid is a biocompatible, biodegradable substance commonly found in dissolvable stitches, and thus deemed safe for stimulating collagen production. As with all of our fillers, Dr. Lieman works only with treatments that are clinically tested and have proven safety profiles. Major side effects are rare, but slight bruising, swelling, redness or itching at injection sites is common and temporary.
Results achieved through Sculptra can continue to improve over the course of a few months following the treatment. While individual results may vary, patients typically see a visible “lift” to the areas treated as well as an overall improvement to the skin tone, texture, and elasticity that has been reported to last up to two years.
